National Youth Statement
What Is The National Youth Statement?
Statements are the culmination of everything learned during the Conference days and subsequent demands. Participants have the opportunity at the end of every day to share their thoughts and channel them into policy ideas. These demands are the change they would like to see in their country and communities. These can be changes in legislation, education, social justice, introduction of new programs, or any others. These demands and requests are shared with local governments, Congress, and most importantly, are incorporated into the Global Youth Statement (GYS). The GYS is the official youth position on climate change at the UNFCCC's Conference of Youth and Conference of the Parties.

This document was crafted with input from over 150 youth representing over 100 different organizations and 35 US States through a democratic process that included thorough research, debate, and extensive peer review. Please use this advocacy tool as you see fit. Over the next year, the LCOY community will be leveraging it to put pressure on the US government to take greater action towards climate justice.
