Local Conference of Youth USA 2025

**The Local Conference of Youth (LCOY) USA is the United State’s official UN-endorsed national youth *climate conference.***

LCOY USA is a youth-led, youth-organized, weekend long conference which brings together over 125 youth delegates from across the country— carefully selected for their leadership in the climate movement— to learn, network, collaborate, and work together to ensure that young people’s demands about climate change are represented at the national and international level.

What Is LCOY?

The Local Conference of Youth is a youth-led climate conference endorsed by YOUNGO (Youth and Children’s Constituency to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change).

Every year, the UNFCCC organizes the Conference of Parties, better known as COP. As a pre-cursor to COP, YOUNGO organizes the Conference of Youth (COY), a global event where the demands of young people are consolidated into the Global Youth Statement (GYS), which is presented at COP.

Before the COY, Local COYs are held on a national level in over 70 countries. LCOYs serve as an opportunity for young activists to network, capacity build, discuss the climate reality of their areas, and draft the National Youth Statement on Climate, (NYS, which feeds into the GYS).
